Play a Song in a Different Key

We’ve added Performance transpose so your band can choose a key that suits its singers without changing the original chart.

We’ve just added Performance transpose to Stage Mate. A user asked us for a way to play a cover song in a key that suits their singers without losing its original key and chords. It’s a familiar problem: the right key for your band may differ from the recording, but the original chart is still worth keeping.

In Song Info, move the song up or down by semitones. Stage Mate shows the original and performance keys when they differ, and rehearsal and Stage use the new chords by default. The saved chart stays untouched; any personal performer transpose remains relative to the new performance key.
