Set performer transpositions

Keep one shared arrangement while showing individual band members the chord shapes and key that suit their instrument or voice.

1

Check the song's shared key

Open the song and check the Key in Song Info. This is the arrangement's base key—the starting point used to calculate every performer's effective key.

2

Find Performer Transpositions

In the Song Details column, find Performer Transpositions. A song starts with no personal transpositions configured.

Personal settings are optional; add only the performers who need a different key.
3

Add the performer who needs another key

Choose Add Performer Transposition, then choose a name. Stage Mate adds that member with an initial offset of zero.

4

Move their chords up or down

Use the down and up arrows beside the member. The signed number shows the semitone offset, and the box beside it shows the resulting key.

Repeat this for any other member who needs a personal version of the song.

The shared song remains in G; Alex's +1 setting produces an effective key of G sharp.
5

Select the performer and verify the chart

Wait for Saved, then choose Play. Select the performer's name and confirm that the displayed key and chords match what they expect to play.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

Performer transpositions preserve one canonical song while adapting its chord display for individual people.

Does a performer transposition change the song for everyone?
No. It records an offset for one band member. The song keeps its shared key, while that performer sees transposed chords when selected.
What does +1 or -1 mean?
+1 moves every chord up one semitone for that performer; -1 moves every chord down one semitone. The effective key is shown beside the controls.
What if I transpose the shared song later?
Stage Mate keeps the performer's relative offset and recalculates their effective key from the song's new shared key.
How do I remove a personal transposition?
Choose the bin beside that performer. This removes their entry from the song without deleting them from Band Members.
