Set up vocal roles
Define the singing parts in a song and connect each part to the band members who perform it.
Open the song you want to organise
Open the song in the editor and find the Vocal Roles panel in Song Details. Vocal roles belong to this song, so another song can use different assignments.
Review the default vocal roles
Stage Mate provides Lead, Harmony, Backing and All as useful starting points. An Everyone badge means the role has not yet been narrowed to particular members.

Assign the people who sing each role
Choose the Everyone badge beside a role, select one or more band members, then choose Apply. Repeat for the parts where a named assignment will help.

Add or style a role when the defaults are not enough
Choose Add Custom Role for a song-specific part such as Duet or Response. Custom roles can be renamed or removed.
For roles other than Lead, choose the colour swatch to change the colour and whether the part uses text colour, a background or an underline.
Save the roles, then mark the lyrics
Wait for Saved. The roles now describe who can sing each part, but no words have been assigned yet. Continue with Highlight vocal parts to mark the exact lyrics.
Frequently asked questions
Vocal roles connect people to named singing parts; lyric highlighting connects those roles to exact words.
